A BUTTERFLY HEART
by Gloria McMath

"A Butterfly Heart" is a fictional book of two sisters, Olivia and Dayla. Their love for each other is so inseparable that they even dressed alike. Twelve-year old Olivia is athletic in swimming and track. Ten-year old Dayla is an animated storyteller and loves to tell jokes. The family moved, tragedy struck and Olivia was bullied. She used Dayla's essay to open up dialogue between the bullies and the students they bullied. From that, Olivia found a new friend.

About the Author
GLORIA McMATH

Gloria McMath wants children to know they don’t have to live for someone else’s compliment. She wants children to know that when it seems like it’s a struggle to be heard or if they’re feeling worthless, to stay energetic and focus on something that’s fun.

Children need to know that seeking attention is not by treating someone else cruelly. Negative words resolute a destructive outcome and crushes the spirit. There are many things to be thankful for and negative comments shouldn’t take up space in a child's mind.

A Note to Children: It’s okay to pray and read the Bible! It has great stories! God answers prayers if you’re patient. You’ll see! You’re valuable to God!

"A Butterfly Heart by Gloria McMath is such a blessing for kids and adults. For kids, I saw many other life lessons about bullying, grief, friendships, using our individual gifts, judging others and appreciating differences. For adults, this is a great springboard for dialogue with young people about difficult situations they encounter in life."
